Smithfield is the big cobbled square on the north side of the river, a few hundred metres from the Four Courts, ringed by apartments, the Jameson distillery and the Light House cinema. The restaurants are on the square itself, on Mary's Lane and Queen Street and along the quays, and they serve a mix of office lunches, cinema-goers and the residents of the new blocks, which keeps weeknights busier than you would expect for a neighbourhood this size.
The Luas Red line stops right on the square (Smithfield), one stop from Jervis and Abbey Street, and the 37, 39 and 70 buses pass along Arran Quay. Parking is the easiest in the inner city, in the public car park under the square.
